Take a Vacation (From Your Kitchen!)

Real Nutrition: The secret to preparing quick, healthy meals is to plan your menus one week at a time and to keep your kitchen filled with a selection of tasty and nutritious foods. Every season brings a bounty of fresh produce.

Real Life: It’s good to take a break from yor kitchen so you can spend more time with your family without compromising good nutrition. Look for simple and delicious recipes that require few ingredients, minimal preparation and little cooking. Here are a few tips to get you started:

  • Purchase rotisserie chicken or roasted turkey breast for a tasty entree; then use the leftovers for sandwiches, wraps, or a hearty salad.
  • To save time, look for fresh fruits and vegetables that are cleaned, portioned, and ready for snacking, salads, or a quick stir-fry. Rinse ready washed vegetables quickly through strainer prior to serving.
  • No-cook pasta sauces or salad dressings burst with fresh flavor when tossed with your favorite cooked pasta and can be served warm, cold, or at room temperature.
  • Cold buffets with an array of french bread, cheeses, olives, sliced tomatoes, pesto, fruit, etc. bring family and friends around the table for a summer feast and summer fun!
